Mississippi Mineral Resources Institute
The mission of the Mississippi Mineral Resources Institute (MMRI) is to provide both the public and private sectors with expertise needed to make responsible decisions regarding Mississippi 's and the nation's mineral resources and environmental well-being. MMRI pursues research projects that address contemporary issues, providing educational and practical training to college students who work on these projects, providing project results to interested parties in industry, government and academia, and by engaging in community service activities.
The University of Mississippi Geoinformatics Center
The University of Mississippi Geoinformatics Center (UMGC) is dedicated to improving the understanding, usage and access to geo-spatial information. Geo-spatial information is any data about the earth or earth processes that can be obtained directly from or using a form of remote sensing. The data is analyzed and/or enhanced using computer technology and the results displayed in a meaningful manner. The Center was created in May 2000 and is funded by NASA.
The University of Mississippi Field Station
The mission of the University of Mississippi Field Station is to foster ecosystem stewardship (1) by providing a natural laboratory and infrastructure for research, education and service, and (2) by cultivating scientific information and understanding of upland watersheds in the lower Mississippi River Basin and similar habitats.
